HISTORY

The O'day Javelin sailboat was built by the O'Day Company of Fall River, MA. It was produced between 1962 and 1984. There are essentially two Javelin model variants built by the original O'Day company: "The Classic" (produced from '62 thru '72) and "The Modern" (made from '73 to the end of the Javelin's production run in 1984.   There were about 5250 boats produced by O'Day. After O'Day closed their doors, another Javelin variant continued to be produced by Blue Fin Yachts of Warwick, RI through the late 1980s into the mid 90s. Currently, new Javelin's are being produced by the O'Day Japan Corporation.   Much more on this stuff later...
